Premium Intraocular Lenses

During cataract surgery, your cataract-affected lens will be removed and replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL). There are several different types of IOLs available, from standard to multifocal. You and one of our cataract surgeons will decide which IOL will best suit your needs. With the use of premium IOLs, we are able to not only restore your vision, but give you better vision than before you ever had cataracts! Some IOLs available are able to provide refractive power as well as cataract correction, correcting common vision issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.  

Astigmatism Correction

Astigmatism is present when the cornea, or outer window of the eye, is more curved in one direction than the other, like the back of a spoon or the shape of a football. This causes light entering the eye to focus on more than one point on the retina. Astigmatism blurs your vision at all distances and is often present along with nearsightedness or farsightedness.

Astigmatism can usually be treated during cataract surgery. If any pre-existing astigmatism is not corrected, glasses or contacts will be needed to see clearly at all distances after cataract surgery. We use the laser or astigmatism correcting Toric IOLs to reduce or eliminate the blurring caused by astigmatism. For patients with low to moderate astigmatism who select a Multifocal or Accommodating IOL to see their best at all distances with little or no dependence on glasses, our Femtosecond Laser is the most precise and predictable astigmatism treatment.
